About Robert
Artist Robert Krige was born and raised in South Africa before moving to the UK where he now lives with his family near Bath.
Despite having only recently started drawing again after many years in self-imposed artistic exile, this largely self-taught artist is already producing beautifully detailed and remarkably life-like work of the highest order. Blessed with a perfectionist's eye (which at times can also be a curse, he is quick to point out), his commitment to accuracy and dedication to truly "capturing" the animal set Rob apart from many of his contemporaries.
Having worked almost exclusively on pet commissions since his return to the creative fold, Rob dreams of one day being able to travel the world as a wildlife artist as well. Passionate about all animals and wildlife, it is those belonging to the plains and jungles of Africa for whom he reserves a special place in his artistic affections and in which he hopes eventually to specialize.
Perhaps slightly unusually, Rob's preferred medium is charcoal pencil which lends itself perfectly to subjects where character and expression are all-important.
It is a journey that has only just begun but one which promises much. Let's enjoy it with him.
